This element of our training is grossly overlooked, missed out and generally misunderstood by most practitioners of Okinawan Goju Ryu, as they take it as old fashioned, too time consuming and in most cases too hard to complete.
This unique sequence of warming up is part of our Heritage, something to be proud of and perfect. Miyagi Chojun Bushi was way ahead of his time formulating this method of warm up.
I as a Physical Education Instructor and Coach of fifteen years
Realise that there are contra indicating exercises like the bunny hops and the Deep knee bends, but Miyagi Sensei was not privy to our Level of Kinetic understanding to know this, however, he was truly innovative for his time.

First it is totally specific in preparing us for every aspect of Goju Ryu training, in that every muscle group, joints, ligaments and tendons are prepared in a logical sequence, toe to head.
Second the cardiovascular system is raised in a progressive manner, allowing certain exercises to be performed without injury, as the circulatory system is heated and running smoothly, coupled with various reactions now taking place within the circulatory system and the muscles, will help as our training continues.
Finally, the specifics of this warm up enhance and correct our posture for Karate training, making some of the more difficult stances and transitions achievable, by strengthening and stretching with both repetition and correction by Instructors, leading to correct muscle memory and correct technique.

You have to understand that correct technique can only be achieved through technically correct repetition; this is the case with any physical discipline, not just Karate!
